One of the programme’s key strengths is its multidisciplinary approach, which allows students to develop a wide and diversified skill set. Courses are organised around the following areas:
- artistic and cultural studies, providing historical, psychological and sociological foundations of the arts and culture, with the aim of training professionals capable of cooperation and intercultural dialogue;
- organisational and production studies, offering managerial, economic and legal knowledge for managing cultural activities, with particular attention to digital transformation and social and environmental sustainability;
- language and communication studies, focusing on marketing, event organisation and communication skills aimed at enhancing and promoting the cultural sector, especially through digital strategies designed to engage new audiences.
Teaching on this programme is structured to ensure a balanced integration of theory and practice. Traditional lectures, which explore theoretical concepts in depth, are complemented by workshops carried out in collaboration with a wide range of cultural institutions, such as museums, festivals, theatres and cultural organisations, as well as with professionals including curators, journalists and directors of cultural institutions with whom IULM maintains ongoing dialogue.
This integration allows students to apply the skills they have acquired in areas such as event planning, digital communication for the arts, cultural promotion and the management of artistic projects. Projects, meetings and workshops are designed to stimulate creativity and teamwork, with the aim of recreating real-world scenarios from the cultural events sector.
Internships and work placements, both in Italy and abroad, are an integral part of the programme, made possible through partnerships with museums, theatres, cultural organisations and companies in the sector.
The Bachelor's Degree Course in Arts and Cultural Events provides students with the basic skills needed to enter the fields of arts and cultural activities. It trains people capable of translating a cultural plan into an operational plan, providing them with the critical knowledge of specific languages alongside the study and implementation of methodologies aimed at enhancing the respective products. The aim is not only to foster the development of specific skills in the construction of artistic and cultural contents, and in the communication of these contents to different audiences, but also to develop management skills in the organisation of events in the sector.
These objectives are achieved through a continuous dialogue between theory and application; between humanistic disciplines - such as history, art history, art and media cultures - and subjects that help to strengthen management, communication and language skills, and explore sociological, economic and legal aspects.
The course offers lectures and workshops held by university lecturers, artists and professionals operating in emerging sectors, as well as direct "hands-on" experience. Study visits to museums and foundations, series of meetings with protagonists of arts, culture and entertainment sectors, projects and collaboration with external organisations, internships and apprenticeships in Italy and abroad complete the training programme. These opportunities are guaranteed by collaborations that have been established by the Faculty, reserved for the students, such as our partnership with MIA FAIR, and also by many other professionalising experiences.
