IULM FLOW Winter School: discovering Mexico

International - 02 November 2021

The new appointment with the IULM Flow International Schools will be a journey between Italy and Latin America to talk about cocoa, its history, its symbolic meaning and its importance for local communities

This initiative, born from the collaboration of IULM with Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) and the Italo-Latin American Organisation (IILA), with the support of the European network The Chocolate Way, is part of a series of events involving experts and scholars of different disciplines, but also presents a series of direct testimonies, which offer the perspective of Latin American communities and cocoa cooperatives, with particular attention to sustainability and gender issues, in a general framework whose goal is to bring the academic world closer to the social reality of the countries concerned.
The International School takes place simultaneously with the exhibition KA'KAO. L'albero segreto: il viaggio del cacao tra Messico e Italia, set up at the Exhibition Hall of the IULM University. Another "sister" exhibition is planned in Mexico in 2022.
