Caligari Prize 2024

Cinema - 14 November 2024

The titles of the six finalist films for the Caligari Prize have been revealed. Find out how to join the jury that will decide the winner during the final evening of the Noir in Festival on December 7!

Conceived in 2016 by Gianni Canova and Giorgio Gosetti, who now directs it together with Giulio Sangiorgio, and organized by the Noir in Festival in collaboration with IULM University and Cinecittà News, the Caligari Prize showcases six titles (released in theaters between November 2023 and October 2024) competing for best Italian genre film.

This year, the six finalists will be screened between December 2 and 6 in Milan in the 146 Room of IULM 6, via Carlo Bo 7, with the participation of the directors.
A popular jury of 70 young students and fans, led by industry professionals, will choose the winner. After a collective discussion at the end of each screening, jury members will be able to exercise their right to vote by placing the ballot with their judgment in the specially prepared ballot box. The final ranking will indicate the winner. The vote of each of the professionals leading the jury will count for three.
The filmmakers will be featured in a special meeting on Friday, December 6, 3 p.m., while the winning film will be announced during the awards night on December 7.

This year's finalists are:

  • THE WELL by Federico Zampaglione
    Monday, December 2, 5:30 p.m
  • ADAGIO by Stefano Sollima
    Monday, December 2, 8 p.m
  • NON RIATTACCARE by Manfredi Lucibello
    Tuesday, December 3, 5:30 p.m
  • IDDU - L'ULTIMO PADRINO by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza
    Wednesday, December 4, 5:30 p.m
  • CARACAS by Marco D'Amore
    Thursday, December 5, 5:30 p.m
  • MIMÌ. IL PRINCIPE DELLE TENEBRE by Brando De Sica
    Friday, December 6, 5:30 p.m

"The Caligari Prize renews for the eighth consecutive year its interest in a focus on Made in Italy genre cinema," says Giorgio Gosetti, "and puts it at the center of the international scene that the Noir in Festival has always proposed to its audience. Already established authors, the first work of an actor and films by directors dealing with the genre for the first time: six titles which are radiographies of today's Italian noir, the product of a constantly expanding industry. What is represented in the Caligari selection is a creativity that exorcises reality through genre and reaches viewers through the most disparate channels of the digital age."
