IULMovie Lab's short film "Il mare breve" in competition at Ischia Film Festival
"Il mare breve" (The Short Sea by) our graduates Matteo Gamannossi and Riccardo Cocumarolo, produced in 2024 by IULMovie LAB, is in official competition in the short film selection of the Ischia Film Festival, an international festival now in its 23rd edition.
The film was shot in the Faroe Islands, at the most remote lighthouse of the old continent, and tells - with images and words - the imaginative loneliness of its keeper, now close to retirement and irretrievably linked to that distant sea.
Made during the didactic path linked to the word of the year 2024 "Adventure," the short film represents one of the ways in which IULMovie LAB goess on with its mission as a workshop of imagination, a daily forge of narratives and education, where our students and graduates bring to life stories that reach out into the world from the classrooms.
Also featured within the same edition of the festival are other short films made by our students and graduates, a sign of the vitality and quality of our emerging class of audiovisual talent:
"L'oro della lama" by Francesco Carlo Lorenzini, a coming-of-age and disillusionment tale set amid mountains as high as destinies; "Lima" by Giulia Bettaglio, set in a mobile and forgotten suburb of Milan, where two young boys soon learn the ruthless rules of life; and "Amusement Park" by Egidio Prudenzano, a sonnet for images set in an invisible and remote China.
The latter two titles compete in the parallel section "Location Denied," dedicated to human rights and the social value of places.
