JAZZMI 2026: The Grandbrothers in Concert at IULM

Music - 01 October 2026 - Event date 22 October 2026

On October 22 at 6:00 p.m., IULM will host the Grandbrothersas part of JAZZMI 2026, for a concert dedicated to musical experimentation and the convergence of tradition and innovation.

The German-Turkish/Swiss duo, consisting of Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel, has transformed the piano into a true electronic instrument, combining the instrument’s acoustic sounds with electronic devices and digital technologies. This creative journey brings together the piano, electronics, and minimalism, giving rise to music that transcends different genres and musical languages.

The Grandbrothers’ work stems from a desire to explore new expressive possibilities for the piano: through sensors, pickups, and electronic effects, the duo expands the instrument’s potential and constructs ever-evolving soundscapes. The result is an immersive experience where composition, improvisation, and technology converge.

The event offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Grandbrothers’ artistic journey and their approach to music as a space for experimentation, where the boundary between traditional instruments and technology grows increasingly blurred.
