IULM at the Camogli Festival of Communication 2025
This year's edition will take place from September 11 to 14
From September 11 to 14, 2025, Camogli will host a new edition of the Festival of Communication, which this year will also feature the Rector and several professors and researchers from IULM University. Talks, meetings and workshops will bring to the public the experiences, research and perspectives of our academic community on the most current issues in communication, art and new technologies. The Camogli Festival of Communication is an annual cultural event conceived in 2014 together with Umberto Eco that draws intellectuals, artists, journalists and innovators to a charming Ligurian village for four days of lectio, performances, dialogues and workshops. The 2025 edition has as its main theme the theme of Inspiration, used as a lens to explore and interpret the complexity of the present.
The meeting with the Rector
Particular emphasis will be placed on the intervention of the IULM Rector, who will participate in a talk dedicated to the future of cultural communication and the challenges for academic and creative institutions.
The meeting will offer a reflection on the profound changes that are crossing contemporary culture - from the digital transition to the green transition, from geopolitics to the new creative economies - and on the role that the university can play in training professionals capable of driving innovation in the sectors of culture and creative industries.
The visual display between art, fashion and creative cities
The talk coordinated by Prof. Martha Friel and Dr. Elisabetta Modena will explore how the visual display has become a key element in cultural storytelling: from contemporary art to fashion, to the promotion of art cities and contemporary creative capitals.
Thanks to the contribution of IULM professors, the meeting will tell how new technologies, immersivity and digital storytelling transform artistic fruition, redefine fashion venues and events as real works of art and influence the perception of cities. An opportunity to highlight the skills required today to communicate culture and experiences in an increasingly visual and connected world.
A virtual journey into the immersive education of the future
Prof. Francesco Laurenti, Dr. Valentina Baselli and Dr. Andrea Carraro, representing the International Center for Research on Collaborative Translation (IULM), will present an immersive experience dedicated to the future of language and translation education.
Through virtual reality viewers, it will be possible to immerse oneself in phygital environments and experience new forms of immersive learning: from simultaneous translation in virtual conferences to specialized terminology learned in 3D environments, to conversations in VR with avatars guided by artificial intelligence. A concrete demonstration of how IULM research is redefining learning through advanced technologies and inclusive approaches.
IULM thus confirms its commitment to bring into the public debate the most innovative issues that intertwine culture, communication, creativity and new technologies.
