Consumer Protection in Digital Markets: Meeting at IULM
On October 8, a meeting open to the IULM community will be held to explore the role of the Italian Competition and Market Authority and the new challenges of consumer protection in the digital environment.
On Thursday, October 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 511, Andrea Venanzetti, Head of the Information Services and Digitization Department at the Italian Competition and Market Authority (AGCM), will be a guest at IULM University for an in-depth discussion on consumer protection in digital markets.
The presentation will take place as part of the Consumer Protection course taught by Attorney Paolo Martinello and will also be open to faculty and students from other IULM programs interested in the topic.
During the session, Venanzetti will outline the Authority’s main functions regarding consumer protection, focusing on the most recent guidelines and actions related to commercial practices in digital markets.
Particular attention will be given to some of the issues currently at the center of the debate: digital marketing, dark patterns, and the manipulative use of artificial intelligence, with the aim of exploring the new ways in which digital practices can influence consumer choices and behavior.
