An Auditorium Filled to Capacity for Antonio Scurati and Luca Marinelli: The Event Dedicated to M. Figlio del Secolo
On January 21, IULM — in an Auditorium filled to capacity — hosted an event featuring the writer and IULM Professor Antonio Scurati and actor Luca Marinelli, to mark the release of the Sky TV series M. Figlio del Secolo. The event was moderated by Professor Gianni Canova.
M. Figlio del Secolo, directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Anna Karenina, Pride and Prejudice), is based on the eponymous novel by Antonio Scurati, winner of the 2019 Strega Prize. The series explores the figure of Benito Mussolini through a fresh and provocative lens, blending drama and grotesque elements, historical reality, and dreamlike visions. Luca Marinelli, in the role of the Duce, delivers an unforgettable, deliberately exaggerated performance, framed by bold direction that challenges traditional narrative conventions.
During the event, the audience gained insight into the behind-the-scenes of this innovative production, the creative process that brought Scurati's novel to the screen, and the challenges Marinelli faced in portraying such a complex and controversial character.
If you missed the event, you can relive it through the photos and an exclusive interview with Antonio Scurati available in the gallery at the bottom of the page.
