After graduating in Modern Literature at the University of Milan, I took my PhD at the University of Bergamo, in cotutorship with the Université Paris Ouest Nanterre-La Défense, with a thesis on the literary work of Emilio Tadini. For two years I was a research fellow, still at Bergamo, with a project on the epistolary relations of the sculptor Giacomo Manzù with 20th century writers, poets and publishers. For another two years, always at the University of Bergamo, I was a research fellow for a project dedicated to the representation of the artist in the contemporary Italian novel (1861-2021).
For several years, I taught in high schools in the province of Milan and Monza and Brianza. I published Una nuova sintassi per il mondo. L'opera letteraria di Emilio Tadini (Quodlibet 2018), La trama (Carocci 2018) and I edited «Quando l’orologio si ferma il tempo ritorna a vivere». Scritti 1958-1970 (il Mulino 2017). My research interests include the interactions between literature and the visual arts, the historical novel, hyper-contemporary Italian fiction and the short story, a topic on which I have been coordinating a permanent workshop for years together with Professor Nunzia Palmieri (the latest event was the conference Numeri primi. Strategie della brevità nel Novecento italiano, Bergamo 5-6 December 2022).
I have edited volumes and issues of journals dedicated to Calvino, Celati, the image of the artist in literary writings and biographical narratives; I have written essays and articles on Fenoglio, Svevo, Morselli, Banti, Celati, del Buono, Calvino, Flaiano and, among the hypercontemporaries, Falco, Vasta, Orecchio, Santoni.
I obtained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for second-rank professor (2022-2032).
I am among the founders and editors of the online journal La Balena Bianca (labalenabianca.com).
