Ester Fuoco received her PhD degree in Digital Humanities - Art, Entertainment and Multimedia Technologies from the University of Genoa in international cotutela with University Sorbonne Paris Cité - Diderot.
In 2021 she receives the French qualification of Maître de Conférences en Arts du Spectacle. In 2022, she receives eligibility as a Lecturer I fascia in Aesthetics and Cultural Anthropology in the 2022-2024 three-year ranking of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.
In 2023 she obtains the National Scientific Qualification as a Second-Band Professor in SSD 10/C1-Theater, Music, Cinema, Television Audiovisual Media. In 2021 she wins a research grant at the Institute of Biorobotics of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa for robotic analysis and experimentation in education and theater. From 2022 to 2024 she is a research fellow at the IULM University of Milan with a two-year project entitled "Onlife Theater: creative and fruition convergences between live, digital and transmediality."
She has been collaborating for years with the International Research Group "Gestes de trvail et gestes de creation dans la marionette" of the Equipe Théâtrales Praxis et Esthétique des Arts - Université d'Arras, France. In 2021-2022 she collaborated with the research group "Argec - Atelier de recherche Génois sur les écritures contemporaines" for the project "Art et Anthropocene". From 2018 to 2021, she collaborated and was curator of the Ferrara CTU section "La memoria die teatri Universitari in Italia" of the OR.ME.TE Orality-Memory-Theater Project. In 2015 and 2016 she collaborated with the Elios Lab directed by Prof. Alessandro De Gloria, coordinator Games and Learning Alliance (Gala) EU Network of Excellence (2010-2014).
She participated in the University of Genoa Research Unit of the PRIN 2016 Project "Per-formare il sociale (training, treatment and social inclusion through theater)"; the University of Genoa PRA 2016 Project "Guido Salvini" directed by Prof. Livia Cavaglieri; and the Project "Andiamo a Recitare! Theater and Sport" directed by Prof. Maddalena Mazzocut-Mis, University of Milan, financed by Fondazione Cariplo.
She has held various seminars and conferences in Europe, Canada, Africa and China and has participated in numerous organizational and scientific committees of international conferences. She is a member of the Association for Anthropological Research, IFTR (International Federation of Theatre Research) and Ordinary Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI).
She is currently a member of the editorial board of the Fascia A journal "MANTICHORA - Italian Journal of Performance Studies" and the scientific journals "MUNERA-Rivista Europea di Cultura, ISSN: 2280-5036. From 2013 to 2016, she is a member of the editorial board of the Fascia journal "ITINERA- Journal of filosofia and Arts Theory" and the scientific journal "ODRADEK- Studies on Philosophy of Literature, Aesthetics and New Media Theories."
