Federico Da Rold is a researcher in Artificial Intelligence with a background in philosophy and a Ph.D. in computer science. His work lies at the intersection of machine learning, evolutionary computation, and cognitive science, with a particular interest in adaptive systems and neural networks.
He has been awarded international fellowships, including the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) and the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship. His research explores learning and reasoning in both individual and collective agents, often through the lens of neuroevolution, reinforcement learning, and embodied AI.
He is currently developing the EDA-Robots project, funded by the PNRR Young Researchers MSCA-IF. The project aims to design emotionally responsive robotic systems and investigates human-robot cooperation from a socio-cognitive perspective. His broader interests include the historical development of AI, philosophy of mind, and the societal impact of intelligent technologies.
He has worked in both academic and startup environments and maintains collaborations with international research groups in Europe and Japan.
