In the second half of the year 2018/19 a.m.: Tuesday 9 a.m.After high school and a degree in Mathematics, in 1976, he began to take an interest in Sociology as an expert in Matter and Methodology of Social Research and, since 1986, he has been officially collaborating in the chair of Sociology and Sociology of Communication with teachers Roberto Guiducci, Rosa Giannetta, Carlo Mongardini, Marino Livolsi, Francesco Alberoni.
Lecturer at the IULM University of Milan and Feltre, he has been the holder of the course of Sociology of the environment and of the territory specifically Tourism, (SPS10) as well as of General Sociology and Social Change (SPS07). He has also taught in some other universities such as the Catholic University of Milan, the State University (Faculty of Medicine) as a contractor for courses in Environmental Sociology, General Sociology and Demography.
He is a contracted professor and assignee of official courses of "Elementary Concepts of Quantitative Analysis of Information" (NEAQI), 48 hours of frontal lesson and of "Elements of Demography", also 48 hours of frontal lesson.
Among other assignments was:
- Member of the didactic committee for the activation of the Master's degrees of his university,
- co-director of the series "Integrali" of the publishing house Arcipelago Edizioni of Milan.
- He coordinated in Milan, for the former Minister Prof. Sirchia, then City Councillor, the projects "Central Station Help Desk" and "Social Guardian".
- He was appointed for two terms by the Chamber of Commerce (CCIAA) of Milan, Scientific Secretary of the Observatory on Tourism and Cultural Resources.
- He has been a full member of the Tourism Board of the Municipal Councillor for Tourism, Fashion, Urban Marketing and Major Events, arch. G. Sketches.
- He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Azienda di Promozione Turistica del Milanese and coordinated the "projects and strategies" Commission.
- He has collaborated with ASTOI, the national association of Tour Operators.
- He was a member of the committee called "30 essays" wanted by the Councillor for Culture of the City of Milan Dr. M. Finazzer Flory as an expert in tourism for the new strategies of the city also in view of Expo 2015.
- He has carried out research activities for the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Lombardy department on digital and territory.
- He is part of the Scientific Committee of "Ageing Society" national association that deals with the improvement of the quality of life for the elderly.
- He has been a member of the Ministerial Commission "The quality of training and tourist reception" wanted by the Minister Hon. M. Brambilla.
- He has collaborated with the Tourist Office of Flanders directed by Dr. P. Solinas and, subsequently, by Dr. G. Sainaghi.
- He contributed to the monthly magazine "Le vie del gusto" by the publisher D. Marasco through the publication of articles in the two sections entrusted to him: "Religious tourism" and "Pillole dell'accoglienza".
- He coordinated the SpeTur study group at the national level, which included many professors from various Italian universities and of which Prof. V. Cesareo of "Sociology for the Person" was President.
- He is part of the Scientific Committee of the publisher FrancoAngeli for the series "Tourism, consumption, free time" directed by Prof. A. Savelli.
- He is President of the Centre for Managerial Studies (CSM) of the Association of Hotel Directors (ADA) and of SOLIDUS, which groups together nine different Associations of hospitality professionals.
He has carried out and is carrying out numerous researches both with internal university funds and with external financing from public and private bodies. The object of the research refers peculiarly to the individual, to his behaviors, to his emotional impulses, to the motivations that lead him to act. For example, some research on topics that are then reflected in publications, conferences, conferences and lectures, including: time management in daily life, training and communication of the young couple, love and friendship in old age, citizenship goods in different ages, the quality of the Milanese museum offer, the traveller's objects, use and perception of the time of consumption and fruition, the perception of safety in young students of Milanese schools, survey on sustainable tourism, pilgrimage, religious tourism, the simple faith that is how religious objects of daily use have helped and are still helping people to get closer to the divine, tourism in its social manifestations, the motivations of travelers, sustainability and responsibility in tourists and operators, green tourism, Milan and the events that have punctuated the approach of the Universal Expo, the new architectural achievements and their influence on the lives of residents, the quality of the offer of hospitality of the Milanese and Lombard hotels.
Areas of scientific interest
Study of an evolving society, relationships between individuals, daily life, changes and the impact of major events.
Tourism in its many facets; the offer of a real welcome and as a response to a national and international demand not always explicit.
Explaining religious sentiment in different types of objects and how these, considered sacred, contribute to the strengthening of a historical and Christian identity.
The evolution of demographic phenomena specifically in three main areas: the structure of the Italian population with projections to the world, the couple and family composition, the phenomena of immigration and new emigration.
In an increasingly multi-ethnic society, to study how to deal with the different stable or temporary ethnic groups (tourists), how to communicate and how to welcome with an adequate supply of food.
Evolution of food and wine: food and wine with increasingly strong territorial characterization up to the breeding, supply and consumption of edible insects.
