IULM "at Maturity" for second year: two faculty members' thoughts on exam topics

University - 18 June 2025

Once again this year, IULM University is present among the tracks of the State Examination. For the second year in a row, in fact, contributions from IULM professors have been chosen by the Ministry of Education and Merit as food for thought for the Italian written test

In 2024 it was the turn of Nicoletta Polla Mattiot, a journalist for Sole 24 Ore and lecturer in the course "Ecology of Silence" within IULM for the City - the series of free lectures open to all citizens, which addresses fundamental issues related to the world of communication. The theme proposed to the students, entitled "Rediscovering Silence," invited them to reflect on the value of silence in contemporary society, starting precisely from a contribution by the IULM lecturer.

This year, however, among the Maturità 2025 traces appeared an article signed by Anna Meldolesi, a biologist, science journalist for Corriere della Sera and lecturer at the IULM Master's in Journalism. The track, focused on the theme of indignation on social networks, takes its cue from her text "Indignation is the engine of the social world. But does it serve a purpose?" published in 7 - Seven on Dec. 13, 2024.

A confirmation of the University's commitment to the dissemination of culture and public debate, capable of speaking not only to university students, but also to new generations entering the adult world. An important sign of the quality of the teaching staff and the social and cultural relevance of the topics covered at IULM.
