Artificial Intelligence at the heart of IULM educational proposal
IULM University makes Artificial Intelligence a pillar of its courses, with an impact that goes beyond the university lessons to involve the entire city
Although not a STEM university, IULM is developing a multidisciplinary approach to AI, with initiatives ranging from teaching and research to dialogue with citizens. A clear example of this commitment is the success of the course "Artificial Intelligence: New Technology or New Era for Humanity?", part of the IULM for the City program, which has registered great public interest since the first lecture.
The course, open to both students and citizens, is taught by Professors Guido Di Fraia, an expert in generative AI, Luisa Damiano, a specialist in ethics and social robotics, and Riccardo Manzotti, a philosopher of the mind and scholar of AI and consciousness. The course offers an in-depth analysis of Artificial Intelligence and its transformative impact on society, thanks in part to talks by some of the top Italian experts in the field. These include Michela Milano (history of AI and its characteristics), Gianluigi Greco (applications of AI for complexity), Alessandra Sciutti (artificial cognition and collaborative robots), Don Luca Peyron (hope and AI), and Pietro Scarpino (technological innovation and the future)
AI at IULM is not only theory, but also experimentation and research: this is demonstrated by the scentDia project , presented as a world premiere at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. It is an innovative social robot that integrates an olfactory dimension for the first time, the result of the synergy between technology, philosophy and art. In addition, on February 25, at Palazzo Montecitorio (Rome), the conference"AI: art revolution of the third millennium," organized by the Center for Advanced Studies in Artificial Intelligence (CSAIA), will feature Professor Davide Mezzino, a lecturer in the Department of Humanistic Studies at IULM, as the protagonist of an in-depth discussion on the applications of Artificial Intelligence in art.
With these initiatives, IULM establishes itself as a point of reference in the reflection on AI, proposing a multidisciplinary approach that combines technology, ethics and culture, and demonstrating how Artificial Intelligence can be a strategic resource for the future of knowledge and society.
