IULM in the heart of Milan Cortina 2026

Students - 02 April 2026

74 IULM students and recent graduates star in OBS Broadcast Training Programme during the Olympic and Paralympic Games

The spotlight has just turned off on the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, an event that transformed the area into a global stage. But while the champions were celebrating on the podium, a large group of IULM students and recent graduates experienced an unprecedented professional adventure with OBS, the Olympic Broadcasting Services (the historic radio and television broadcaster of the Olympics).

A winning collaboration: the Broadcast Training Programme

The synergy between IULM and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) began thanks to the Career Service Office in the spring of 2025, when the University Auditorium hosted General Sessions and training workshops. Since then, the path of 74 talents has taken off, leading them to key roles in the production and distribution of the Olympic signal to billions of viewers

Voices from the International Broadcast Center, the Programme's "nerve center"

Among the 74 students from both Italy and abroad involved in the program, 14 worked at the Broadcast Center, the beating heart of media operations. We collected testimonies from some of them.

  • Ajay Singha ( Strategic Communication student), engaged in the Archives - Mixed Zones Ingest Area, tells how the reality exceeded expectations: "Working in the Production department allows you to see how Olympic storytelling comes about. The BTP training was essential to handle the fast pace of the Mixed Zone."
  • Rebecca Melgrati ( Communications, Media and Advertising student), also on the Archives team, emphasizes the future value of this experience: "In addition to technical skills on video logging, this opportunity opens incredible doors into the world of international media. It is the perfect bridge between my studies and my career goals."
  • Agung Sentosa(Hospitality & Tourism Management), provided her expertise in Games Services, managing the complex machine of hospitality and operational logistics.
  • Sabrina Giorgi(Communication, Media and Publicity), worked in the administrative heart of the event, in the Office Management and Administration area.

Soft skills for the future

From digital rights management to venue support (Broadcast Venue Support) to marketing and video production, IULM students covered almost every area of broadcasting.

"This experience was not just an internship, but a total immersion in a multicultural, high-pressure reality," participants commented."Seeing behind the scenes of the most watched sport in the world gave us a perspective that no textbook can replace."

The Athenaeum expresses deep pride in the commitment and professionalism shown by all the students involved, certain that the technical and human background acquired during Milano Cortina 2026 will be the basis for their future careers in the world of communications and management.
