The new Israeli-Palestinian crisis: ten words for understanding

University - 04 December 2023

A lecture-debate open to the academic community will be held on December 13

The new eruption of violence in the Israeli-Palestinian confrontation is striking in its intensity and worrisome in its possible widening, but it harks back to a story that is now more than a century long, particularly complex and troubled in its twists and turns and forms of development. In the media portrayal of this course, simplifications and appeals to take sides (in the name of more or less well-founded reasons) prevail . The university also intends to help deal with current events according to the logic of critical thinking. So this meeting aims to provide some minimal knowledge and to apply historical reasoning to give depth to events, and thus lay the groundwork for a more adequate understanding of the facts. A minimal lexicon of the crisis, open to multiple possible insights, will help us.
