The events in our Athenaeum under the banner of a return to in-person meetings

Bookcity returns to IULM again this year with a series of meetings all scheduled to take place between November 17 and 18, 2022. As one might expect, one of the themes linking some of the events is one that addresses, in various ways, the post-pandemic situation: new scenarios and rethinking established habits are the focus of some of the talks. But there is also room for an in-depth look at "objects" that are still mysterious to some, such as NFTs, the staging in contemporary and actualized form of the great comedies and tragedies of ancient Greece, or the importance of accessories in the world of fashion.
There will be no shortage of ironic and even somewhat irreverent parenthesis thanks to the Oblivion show -this year's top event - which will be held in the Auditorium.

Here are the details of the events:

  • nov. 17, 10:30 a.m. Room 146 (IULM6). Hybridity and irony on stage. Tragedy, comedy and satire drama from ancient Greece to the contemporary stage.
    A reflection on the concept of the hybrid in ancient Greece through some theatrical texts rewritten and staged in modern times, in particular the comedies Clouds, Frogs, Birds and Peace by Aristophanes, the tragedy Bacchae and the satire drama Cyclops by Euripides. With Valentina Garavaglia, Claudia Cannella, Maddalena Giovannelli, Laura Sicignano, Giovanna Scardoni and Laura Redaelli. Martina Treu moderates.

    The memory of ice to unravel the past, understand the present and predict the future. A conversation on the climate issue and environmental sustainability. With Carlo Barbante and Massimo Cirri. Moderated by Annamaria Esposito.
  • 17/11 3 p.m. Room 146 (IULM6) Public Speaking, a borderline art between linguistics and psychology.
    Starting with the presentation of the book Public Speaking. Cultura e pratiche per una comunicazione efficace by Bustreo and Muscariello, ways to be effective in communicating within an interpersonal relationship will be analyzed. With Elena Liverani, Bruno Mastroianni and Emanuele Pasqualini. Moderated by Massimo Bustreo and Marta Muscariello.
  • 17/11 4:30 p.m. Room 146 (IULM6) Power, Neuroscience, Philosophy and the Role of Creative Education.
    Taking a cue from recent pandemic and political events, we question the relationship between the person, critical thinking, law and society. What space is there for democratic principles and the expression of free thought in a cultural climate dominated by emergency and the imposition of rules by experts? With Carlo Lottieri, Marco Maiocchi, Francesco Galli. Riccardo Manzotti moderates.
  • 17/11 6 pm Auditorium (IULM6). Oblivion Hybrid. Lectio Dementialis. (Theater performance)
    A foray between the serious and the facetious into hybridization with Oblivion. With Lorenzo Scuda, Francesca Folloni, Davide Calabrese, Graziana Borciani and Fabio Vagnarelli. Gianni Canova moderates.

    Presentation of 3 volumes (edited by Stefano Rolando) promoted by the Observatory on Public Communication, Public Branding and Digital Transformation of IULM University on the new frontiers of communication in the context of the global and systemic crisis.   • 18/11 3:00 p.m. Room 131 (IULM1) Internal communication in organizations: emerging issues and trends in the post-pandemic.
    The panel discussion builds on the book Current Trends and Issues in Internal communication (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021). The book is edited by Rita Linjuan Men and Ana Tkalac Verčič, members of the Scientific Committee of the Centre for Employee Relations and Communication (CERC) at IULM University.     Presentation of two volumes from the Visual Studies Notebooks series of the PhD in Visual and Media Studies: Crimine, colpa, testimonianza. Sulla performatività documentaria (Giulia Scomazzon), Per una storia della letteratura elettronica italiana (Roberta Iadevaia). Two ways to investigate contemporary forms of visuality from television seriality to podcasts, to literary forms that exploit the creative potential of digital media.     The event takes its cue from the publication of the volume La casa vissuta la casa sognata. Valori, spazi e relazioni (Lumi, Milan, 2021 edited by A Mortara and R. Scramaglia), which contains the results of interdepartmental research carried out in the national territory and other interventions related to the sphere of living.
