IULM among above-average universities in research: ANVUR recognition in VQR 2020-2024

University - 20 April 2026

IULM is confirmed among Italian universities with above-average performance in research quality and ability to attract competitive funding. This is what emerges from the fourth Research Quality Assessment (VQR 2020-2024) conducted by ANVUR.

The evaluation, which involved more than 75,000 researchers and analyzed about 200,000 scientific publications, is the main national tool for measuring the quality of academic production and guiding the allocation of public resources to universities.

In the new evaluation cycle, there are about thirty universities - state and non-state - that rank above the national average, distinguishing themselves both for scientific impact and for their ability to attract funds from international competitive programs, such as Horizon Europe and ERC grants. These include IULM, alongside leading institutions such as the University of Bologna and Bocconi University.

A result that confirms the University's path of growth in the field of research and international planning, in a context in which - as highlighted by ANVUR - Italian universities have overall improved the quality of recruitment, with newly hired researchers increasingly productive and competitive.

IULM's positioning is part of a distinctive research model based on the integration of the humanities and advanced technologies. In fact, the University develops scientific activities oriented toward understanding the impact of innovation - from artificial intelligence to neuroscience and robotics - on languages, communication and social, economic and cultural dynamics. IULM is confirmed among Italian universities with above-average performance in research quality and ability to attract competitive funding. This is what emerges from the fourth Research Quality Assessment (VQR 2020-2024) conducted by ANVUR.
