She is a full professor of Corporate Communication at the University of Jyväskylä, School of Business and Economics, Finland. She previously worked for over 10 years as an associate professor at the University of Aarhus, School of Business and Social Sciences in Denmark. She carries out training and research activities on the themes of strategic corporate, institutional and political communication, crisis communication, public relations and social media. In 2010, she was Visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (USA) and in 2013 Visiting scholar at the University of Amsterdam, ASCoR, in the Netherlands. She is author and co-author of over 100 scientific publications, 5 volumes including Handbook of Public Relations (in preparation), Public Communication in the European Union. History, Perspectives and Challenges, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2010, and The Broken Mirror. How Italian public speakers and journalists perceive their own profession and that of others, Luca Sossella, 2008. Dr. Valentini has received several international awards for his research. She is a member of the advisory board of the Centre for Strategic Communication (CECOMS) of IULM and of the editorial board of the scientific journals: Annals of International Communication Association, Corporate Communication: an International Journal, International Journal of Strategic Communication, and Journal of Public Interest Communication. Dr. Valentini regularly carries out referral activities for various international scientific journals and conferences. Between 2010 and 2017, she served as secretary general, vice-chair and then chair of the public relations section of the International Communication Association. Since 2015, she has been a member of the jury for the Digital Communication Awards organised by the Quadriga University, Germany.
