Giulia Tonucci teaches the "Global Fashion" course (Master’s Degree in Fashion Communication and Luxury Strategies) and contributes to the "Advertising for Fashion and Design" course (Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion and Creative Industries) at IULM University in Milan, where she also coordinates the Master’s program in Beauty and Wellness Management and Communication. She is an adjunct professor of Fashion Communication at Accademia del Lusso in Milan.
She holds a PhD in Cinema, Music, and Theatre from the University of Bologna (26th cycle), having developed an interdisciplinary project on the relationships between theatre, technology, and fashion—including a research period at Université Paris VIII under the Marco Polo Program. She was also a Visiting Scholar at Brunel University of West London, collaborating with the DAP-Lab (Design and Performance Lab) on the intersections of performing arts, digital technologies, and costume.
Her research explores fashion as a media and cultural phenomenon, analyzing the languages, mechanisms, and platforms through which it is produced, narrated, and consumed. Alongside her academic work, she engages in research, training, and consulting projects in collaboration with companies, institutions, and professionals in the fashion and creative industries, maintaining a constant dialogue between theoretical reflection and contemporary communication practices.
