Individual tutorial
Timetable
During the first term of the 2018-19 academic year, individual tutorials will be held by appointment to be arranged by e-mail in room 2235 on the second floor of the IULM 2 building.Carolina Orsini (1972), archaeologist, holds a MA in Archeology at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and a PhD in Anthropology at the University of Bologna (2005) with a thesis on the archeology of the Sierra de Ancash (Peru).
Since 2003 she has been the curator of the archaeological and ethnographic collections of the Municipality of Milan, now exhibited at the Museum of Cultures. She curated the first permanent exhibition ("Objects of encounter", October 2015) and the current one dedicated to globalization ("Global Milan. The world seen from here", September 2021), as well as several temporary exhibitions and two catalogs.
In addition to the scientific activity on heritage, she conceived and promoted various public programs for the intercultural accessibility to the Mudec heritage.
Since 1998 she has been carrying out fieldworks in Peru and Argentina, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, collaborating with numerous local research institutes.
She works with the Italian Army, as well as with several Italian courts, to combat and prevent the illicit trafficking of American archaeological objects in Italy.
She is the author of several Andean essays, including two volumes on the Incas, two on the populations of central northern Peru and numerous scientific articles in different languages.
Since 2009 she has been on the board of directors of the Passaré Foundation for the promotion of primary arts.
Since 2019 she has been a member of the international advisory board of the magazine "Scientific Museology".
Since 2019 she has been a member of the select council of the International Committee on Pre-Columbian Textiles.
From 2019 she participates in the works of the international workshop "Tout passe sauf le passé" (Everything passes except the past), organized by the international network of Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the African Museum Tervuren, Culturgest Lisbon and the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món (Barcelona).
Her main research interests include: the archeology of the central Andes, the post-colonial museology, the globalization through objects, the reparation and restitution of ethnographic heritage.
