Born in Teramo on October 20, 1953. Between 1981 and 1985 he completed his apprenticeship in Milan in Giorgio Grassi's studio, collaborating on various projects. In 1986 he founded a professional studio in Rome, where he lives and works. From 1989 to 1995 he was deputy editor of the international architecture magazine 'Domus'. From 1997 to 1999 he was professor of architectural design at the ETH Zurich. It carries out a wide range of teaching and research activities in various Italian and foreign universities, alongside this activity also the project. He is currently professor of design at the Faculty of Architecture of Cagliari in Sardinia and is editor of the magazine 'Domus'.
The works in progress (Renovation of the Fienga Castle in Nocera and Renovation of the San Michele Castle in S. Maria del Cedro - both with Eduardo Souto de Moura - , Naturalistic-Archaeological Museum in Vicenza, Lewitt Foundation in Praiano), testify to a way of working that with awareness is based on knowledge of the past and in continuity with it seeks innovation for contemporary design. In 2011 he won the competition for the extension of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria.
