A scholar of the relationship between pop music, the media and the cultural industry, at IULM he teaches the "Videoclip Laboratory" course, a subject he has been working on at the same University since 2004 with supplementary courses and exercises.
He graduated with a thesis on audiovisual semiotics and in 2001 he obtained a PhD in Applied Linguistics and Communication Languages from the Catholic University of Milan, with a thesis on the new forms of narration of TV and Cinema.
In 1999, he published for RAI/ERI "Musica da vedere: il videoclip nella televisione italiana" (Music to see: the videoclip on Italian television), the first book dedicated to the subject in Italy, born from a research project that ranked second at the Rai/VQPT "Giancarlo Mencucci" award the previous year.
He is the author of numerous essays and various scientific monographs on the musical media. Among the monographs: "I linguaggi della musica pop" (Bompiani 2003), "L'industria Musicale" (Carocci, 2006) and "Musica e media digitali" (Bompiani, 2008).
As a journalist, he has written and collaborates with national newspapers dealing with both music (Tutto Musica, Jam, Tribe, Musica! di Repubblica) and technology and digital (Wired, Class). In this field he has published several monographic volumes dedicated to artists (R.E.M., Soundgarden) and historical ("Legendary history of rock music", with Riccardo Bertoncelli).
Since 2001, he has been editor-in-chief of Rockol.it, a site for which he is responsible for the management and development of digital content related to music: reviews, interviews, videos, applications.
