CURRENT POSITION:
Monica Morazzoni is a tenured-track assistant professor (scientific and disciplinary area M-GGR/01) at the Department of Humanities of IULM University in Milano, where she lectures the following courses: Rappresentazioni, Paesaggio e Turismo (Representations, Landscape and Tourism) and Turismi Emergenti, Geografie, Culture, Organizzazioni (Emerging Tourism: Geography, Culture, Organisations) in the Degree Course of Tourism, Management and Culture, Faculty of Arts and Tourism.
She was confirmed associate professor in Geography (competition sector 11/B1, scientific and disciplinary area M-GGR/01).
She has a broad experience both in lecturing and carrying research at Università degli Studi di Milano, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan Campus), and Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, mainly focusing on: the analysis of regional organisation processes, transformation and continuity in the great European and non-European urban contexts, problems of development in critical areas, preservation and sustainability politics, and tourism phenomena during globalisation.
She has been actively participating in local, national and international research groups and her research activity was published on important Italian academic geography journals and presented in national and international conference and convention proceedings.
Since 2021 she is Associated Investigator of the research project of national importance-Prin, MIND - Mountains INsiDe the Mountain.
Since 2021, she has been coordinating the national research group Geografia dell’Innovazione e dell’Informazione (Geography of Innovation and Information) for the Italian association of geographers named Associazione dei Geografi Italiani (AGeI). While since 2019, she is a member of the national research group Geography of Mountain.
In 2019, she coordinated the project Attraversamenti urbani: i quartieri si raccontano (Urban crossings: the narrative of neighbourhoods) during the second edition of the event “Urbana – Università e Periferie”, in cooperation with Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca and Politecnico di Milano. In 2021, she also took part to the Cariplo research project Sound Landscape.
She is the author of more 80 publications concerning the interactions between tourism and mountain areas, technology innovation and critical areas.
