Childcare facilities for students

IULM’s Gender Equality Plan adopted in 2022 foresaw the opening of childcare facilities for students allowing recent mothers to attend university courses to be implemented in an immediate future. These free facilities have since been opened and are now available.

The Nursery is designed to be a welcoming environment with everything needed to provide an intimate and comfortable space. Equipped with a changing table and a comfortable nursing seat, the Nursery offers the perfect haven to care for IULM’s students and their children in a safe and serene setting.

This facility represents another step by IULM toward promoting an inclusive and supportive environment for its entire community, reinforcing the University's commitment to gender equality and inclusiveness in its organizational culture.

The Nursery project is closely linked to IULM's Gender Equality Plan (GEP) (page 11) , a strategic document promoted by the Equal Opportunities Committee, aimed at promoting gender equality and eliminating gender-based discrimination. The GEP also outlines a series of concrete actions to foster a more equitable and inclusive working and academic environment, including the establishment of support services. With this in mind, in addition to the opening of the Nursery within Università IULM, agreements have been activated with several nurseries in Milan precisely to facilitate the integration of work and family life.

The Equal Opportunities Committee, dedicated to promoting equal treatment and preventing discrimination within the university, plays a crucial role in monitoring the implementation of the GEP and ensuring that initiatives such as the Nursery actually contribute to the well-being of the entire university community

IULM has made additional arrangements to facilitate access to childcare facilities for students which allow recent mothers to attend university courses with a series of supporting initiatives - such as a convention with the kindergarten Aldia, offering a reduced fee and is open for the entire duration of the university courses.
