Critical Zone: a new journal directed by Professor Trione
The journal, published by Il Mulino will have arts, media and visual cultures as its fields of inquiry. The call for papers is now open!
Zona critica. Rivista di arti, media, culture visuali is a new editorial project of a six-monthly journal directed by Prof. Vincenzo Trione and to which several IULM professors and researchers collaborate (Anna Luigia De Simone editor-in-chief, Renato Boccali, Elisabetta Modena), as well as assignees, PhD and PhD students.
Published by il Mulino in print format and co-produced by the Center For Visual Studies at IULM University, it hosts contributions of a scholarly nature, putting scholars of art, cinema and aesthetics in dialogue with intellectuals, writers, philosophers and artists around some decisive themes in the current theoretical debate. Each issue is conceived as a chapter in an atlas of contemporary visual culture. Zona Critica intends to critically interrogate the modes and forms of the present, understood as a fluid space and, at the same time, as a labyrinth inhabited by different languages and artistic practices capable of rendering an ever-changing portrait of our time.
The theme of each issue will be divided into two sections - Theories and Genealogies - thus lending itself to be declined from a theoretical perspective, or retraced from trajectories and episodes of a historical-genealogical nature.
The honor committee includes personalities of great stature such as Francesco Casetti (Yale University), Boris Groys (New York University), and Arturo Carlo Quintavalle (Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei), while the covers of the journal are designed by painter Mimmo Paladino.
The call for papers for the first issue of the journal, whose title will be "Manifesto presente" is already open and will close on March 2, 2025.
