World Anthropology Day: the 2025 edition is kicking off

Culture - 03 February 2025

February 20, 21 and 22 the event on public anthropology in Milan. IULM is also among the institutions participating in the initiative with 8 free events.

Now in its seventh year, World Anthropology Day returns. Public Anthropology in Milan and Turin, the event that on February 20, 21 and 22, 2025 will bring anthropology to the two cities, showing its practical applications and intersections with other professions and disciplines. With more than 100 events, all free of charge, the initiative unites the cities of Milan and Turin under the banner of anthropology.

This year's theme is that of the future and its declinations, because "The future is already here, but it is not equally distributed." The idea behind it is to think of the cities of Milan and Turin as laboratories of useful ideas and directions transferable elsewhere, with the specific goal of building together a desirable future, a future that is possible because it is socially and ecologically sustainable.

The appointments revolve around five macro-themes: Environment, Conflict, Care, Work, Technology.

The event features a partnership between the departments of five universities: the Department of Human Sciences for Education "R. Massa" of Università Milan-Bicocca ; the Department of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Mediations of  Università Statale of Milan; the Department of Humanities of Università IULM ; the Department of Visual Arts of the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA); and the Departments of Cultures, Politics and Society and Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the Università di Torino.
