Shadowplay: The Impact of AI on the Humanities
October 26, 2026: A seminar at IULM
A study day to reflect on the impact of artificial intelligence on the humanities and, in particular, on the representation of time and space in the reconstruction of the past. Research, teaching, and the dissemination of history—as well as museum curation and the representation of tangible and intangible heritage—what impacts might they face, and what new paths might they open up in relation to the use of AI and the risks of its misuse?
Participants in this study day will include historians, art historians, museum professionals, archivists, geographers, political scientists, philosophers, and anthropologists, who will engage in a series of panels with a strong interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary focus. Will the processes of nation-building, the curation of history and art, their enjoyment and dissemination, and the relationship between imperialism and postcolonialism remain the same in the era of artificial intelligence?
