The 2024 edition of Progetto Sussidiario kicks off
Are you a freshman and would like to consolidate your knowledge before starting the semester? Project Subsidiary is designed especially for you. Find out more!
Progetto Sussidiario intends to offer freshmen a tool to consolidate and refine their skills. Students will be able to "put themselves back in the center," rediscovering their linguistic, temporal, civic and geographical coordinates. This is a unique opportunity to reacquaint oneself with subjects that are indispensable for facing the path of university studies. The project is structured in six lessons. Here is the program:
"What a Beautiful Charter" - Professor Guido Formigoni: 09/16/2024 2:00 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
The civics lesson aims to recall some essential criteria and models of the functioning of constitutional democracy, in particular of the Italian Republic. Of course, it will be necessary to place this reasoning in the appropriate international context. To analyze the contingency of a number of normative and legal references, we will use many examples taken from current events.
"Italian first!" - Professor Luciana Bianciardi: 09/17/2024 2:00-3:45 pm
How to be effective in the production of a text, avoiding unnecessary and unclear sentences, with a focus on the correctness of the text itself, spelling, syntax and punctuation. Examples of texts (literary and advertising) that are convoluted and misleading will be offered, and students will be asked to come up with more appropriate formulas.
"Orienting the world with geography" - Professor Monica Morazzoni: 09/18/2024 2:00-3:45 p.m.
The lesson aims to exemplify some of the basic concepts of human geography, such as: the relationship between nature and culture, the difference between space and territory, the concept of geographical scale, ecosystems and resources, and the interactions between society and the environment using the tools of geographical analysis.
"Is it worth what it costs?" Culture, creativity and tourism in the contemporary economy - Professor Martha Friel: 9/18/2024 3:45 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Taking in consideration the impact of the culture, creative industries and tourism sectors on local and national economic systems, this introductory lecture to first-year management and economics courses will examine some key concepts of the contemporary economy and the rules that characterize its operation. Some essential guiding principles for strategic decision-making by public and private actors operating in the worlds of art, creativity and tourism will also be discussed with students.
"Memory has two doors, sight and hearing": instructions for studying and communicating art - Professor Simona Moretti: 09/19/2024 2:00-3:45 pm
The lecture has two objectives: to provide methods for studying art history and strategies for communicating it to different audiences. Through some cases that will be presented during the meeting, the importance and usefulness, both individual and collective, of knowledge of monumental and artistic heritage in today's society will be underlined.
"Let's re-discover history" - Professor Massimo De Giuseppe: 09/19/2024 3:45/17:30 p.m.
The course is conceived to provide students with the essential methodological tools for tackling a contemporary history course and for understanding the meaning and importance of the study of historical disciplines within a university course. The main objectives consist of:
- Learning to read events with "historical depth"
- Taking a polyphonic view and understanding the connections between local and global events
- Understand contemporaneity and the meaning of periodizations
