IULM and FAI: students tell about The Places We Read
Four Athenaeum students sign off on the technical realization of FAI's new video podcast, a journey through literature and territory that inaugurates the 2026 census
The link between memory, storytelling and territory becomes image thanks to the talent of IULM University students. On the occasion of the launch of the 13th edition of the census "The Places of the Heart", FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano presents "The Places We Read," an innovative video podcast project with the active participation of our University.
The contribution of IULM students
The project represented an important educational opportunity for four IULM University students: Beatrice Cino, Beatrice Corsi, Alessandra Legittimo and Lorenzo Scibilia. Under the coordination of Prof. Luisella Farinotti and Beatrice Scapini Borromeo, the students took care of the entire production chain of the visual content: from filming to editing, up to the post-production of the full material and social "pills" for digital platforms.
This collaboration allowed the students to measure themselves against a high-level professional challenge, combining the storytelling of the territory with the expert use of new media.
A journey between words and landscapes
Conceived and conducted by writer Marta Stella, the series consists of ten interviews that explore Italy through the eyes of big names on the contemporary literary scene. The authors involved include the likes of Viola Ardone, Daria Bignardi, Maria Grazia Calandrone, Giulia Caminito, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Melania Mazzucco and Marco Missiroli.
Each episode is an intimate tale that reveals the real places that inspired novels and characters: corners of cities, rivers, valleys or private studios where literary creation takes shape.
Where to follow the project
The initiative was officially presented on May 12 during the press conference launching FAI's new biennial census.
- Platforms: Video podcasts are available at the dedicated page of the FAI website, on the FAI YouTube channel (FAIChannel) and on Spotify.
- Programming: Following the release of the first three episodes at the launch, the series will continue on a biweekly basis.
In addition to discovering the links between literature and landscape, the University invites the entire academic community to actively participate in the census by voting for their "places of the heart" to help protect and enhance them.
