IULM at 1st Bilateral Forum of Italian and Japanese Rectors at Expo Osaka 2025
IULM University participated in the 1st Bilateral Forum of Italian and Japanese Rectors, held on June 17 at the Italian Pavilion of Expo Osaka 2025, bringing its contribution in the field of innovation and research applied to communication.
Organized by CRUI - Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities in collaboration with the Japan Association of National Universities and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Embassy of Italy in Japan, the Forum represented an important opportunity for academic dialogue between the two countries, in view of the Universal Exposition that will officially open next year.
IULM presented two projects that perfectly embody the University's vocation for interdisciplinarity and dialogue between science, communication and creativity:
- ScentDia - A novel robotic prEs[s]ence, which combines social robotics, philosophy and art. A unique robot: it is not only a work of art - a "sculpture" - robot, but also a social robot that, for the first time in the world, integrates an olfactory dimension, making human-robot interaction more intuitive and engaging. Thanks to the revolutionary technological innovation of ScentDia,
- The university's flagship Neuromarketing Behavior and Brain Lab Research Center aims to analyze the emotions provoked by advertising stimulation and any type of communication through techniques and methodologies based on the analysis of physiological signals, such as those raised with an electroencephalogram (EEG), with an eye movement reader (Eye tracking) and with instruments capable of detecting arousal and emotional activation (Heart Rate, Skin Conductance).

Participation in the Forum strengthens IULM's international positioning and confirms the University's active role in academic, cultural and scientific exchange processes between Italy and Japan, within a context of high global visibility such as Expo 2025 Osaka.
