The list of international guests is getting longer, with the beloved actors behind the ‘Game of the Year 2023’, Baldur's Gate III, and the author of the legendary Resident Evil saga, Shinji Mikami. Space will also be given to Italian artists and productions, protagonists of the global entertainment industry and present in the Indie Dungeon and Artist Alley areas, which will exalt the inimitability of human creativity. Also returning is the Fantasticon Film Fest, the 900-seat Milan Games Week & Cartoomics cinema, under the artistic direction of Pedro Armocida.
The collaboration between Milan Games Week & Cartoomics and IULM, the event's first partner university, will kick off with the third edition of "Sognielettrici - Festival of the Fantastic and Science Fiction Imaginary,"a free event on speculative fiction in all its forms, which took place October 7-12, 2024 at IULM University, with preview screenings, panel discussions and masterclasses with experts in the field. The festival also included an international conference and dissemination activities also realized thanks to the contribution of content creators present at MGWCMX. Equally rich in moments of reflection and engaging activities has been "AI.motion" - at IULM on October 12 and 13, 2024 -, the first Italian Festival of Cinema and Audiovisual made with Artificial Intelligence, conceived by the University, which has an active master's degree course dedicated precisely to Artificial Intelligence, and has given birth to the IULM AI Lab. This synergy is extended and continuous until the dates of Milan Games Week &Cartoomics, in which some panels and talks will be carried out by IULM University professors and researchers.
The appointment with Milan Games Week & Cartoomics is November 22, 23 and 24 in pavilions 9, 11, 13, 15 and at the Auditorium of Fiera Milano (Rho).

The talk explores the representation of robots and cyborgs in Western and Japanese comics and animation, comparing different visions of ‘machinic otherness’. While Western comics tend towards a disturbing and technophobic representation (e.g. Vision, Ultron), manga and anime often express technophilia, with fascinating figures such as Astro Boy. Cyborgs, liminal figures combining human and machine (e.g. DC's Cyborg and Motoko Kusanagi from ‘Ghost in the Shell’), symbolise diversity. In both traditions, as in the giant Mazinga-style robots, the human element remains central. With Guido Di Fraia, Stefano Locati, Elisabetta Di Minico. In collaboration with IULM
- Sunday 24 November 2024, 10:30-11:15 am: The videogame: Artificial Intelligence in a human heart, with Fabrizia Malgieri and ‘Arcadia Café’.
(Italpizza Multiuniverse, Stage Pad 11)
The videogame from a simple means of entertainment to an expressive tool capable of narrating human emotions. Always centred on the active participation of the player, the video game has evolved this interaction: initially only mechanical, today it also involves the emotional aspect. Thanks to advanced technologies and complex plots, the player deliberately fills the ‘gaps’ left by the AI, bringing his human and emotional intelligence to interpret the game in a unique and personal way. With Fabrizia Malgieri and ‘Arcadia Café’. In collaboration with IULM
