IULM Sport: inauguration of the new hub dedicated to sports

Sport - 21 March 2025

A new chapter for sports at IULM kicked off with the inauguration of IULM Sport, the new space designed to promote wellness and sociality within our academic community

Located on the ground floor of the Residence Santander, the hub was officially inaugurated on March 20, 2025, National University Day, in the presence of the Rector, Prof. Valentina Garavaglia, the Proxy for Sport, Prof. Monica Morazzoni, and the Director General, Dr. Raffaella Quadri.

A space for meeting and inclusion

IULM Sport is not only an area equipped for table soccer and ping pong tournaments, but a real meeting point, where sport becomes an opportunity for personal growth and inclusion.

"The birth of this space represents a recognition for all those who practice sports, inside and outside the Athenaeum" - said Rector Garavaglia. "It is also a way to thank those who, with their passion, contribute to making our community more alive."

A concept also reiterated by Prof. Morazzoni, who emphasized the value of sports as a tool for mental, as well as physical, growth: "With IULM Sport we want to encourage an active lifestyle, involving not only students, but also the surrounding area. Our goal is to strengthen the bond with the Barona neighborhood, building a community capable of 'taking the field' together. IULM Sport is not just a new space, but a model that we are asked to tell: an innovative idea of university sports."

An ever growing project

The inauguration of the IULM Sport hub marks only the beginning of a broader initiative: in the coming months, IULM Sport will offer outdoor activities, teams, courses and initiatives to counter sedentariness and stimulate participation because"sport must be widespread, daily and accessible to all"- the Rector added."

The event was also an opportunity to celebrate teamwork: the Rector and Proxy met with athletes from IULM teams, inviting the entire academic community to take part in the competitions and events scheduled.
