Gianni Canova President of the Opera Prima Jury at the Venice Film Festival

IULM University Rector Prof. Gianni Canova has been appointed president of the International Jury for Venezia Opera Prima "Luigi De Laurentiis" at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.

Gianni Canova will lead a jury composed of distinguished personalities from the world of cinema. Joining him will be, in fact, Ricky D'Ambrose, American screenwriter and director known for his films "The Cathedral" and "Notes on an Appearance"; Barbara Paz, Brazilian director, visual artist, actress and producer, famous for the documentary "Babenco: Alguém Tem que Ouvir o Coração e Dizer Parou"; Taylor Russell, Canadian actress and director known for her performances in "Bones and All" and "Waves"; and Jacob Wong, festival curator and director of film markets.

The Jury of the Venice Opera Prima Award will have the task of awarding, from among all the feature-length debut works in the various competitive sections of the Festival (Official Selection and Autonomous and Parallel Sections), the prestigious Lion of the Future - Venice Opera Prima "Luigi De Laurentiis" Award. The prize, worth 100,000 USD, is provided by Filmauro and will be divided equally between the director and the producer of the winning film, with no possibility of ex aequo.
