Ethnosemiotics: results and perspectives
May 23 and 24 a seminar in IULM
Preconceived by the pioneering work of Algirdas J. Greimas in the early 1970s, ethnosemiotics experienced a new impetus in the 1990s also thanks to researchers who, for a time, were active at IULM, such as Francesco Marsciani, Giuditta Bassano, and Francesco Galofaro.
Over the years, the applications of this new outlook have extended to very different fields, from research to communication, from marketing to design: as Francesco Marsciani writes, the ambition of ethnosemiotics is in fact to describe nothing less than the signifying conditions of life in common, which characterize the experience of the lived world.
To discuss the foundations and developments of the discipline, a two-day seminar entitled Ethnosemiotics: results and perspectives will be held in IULM. The seminar is organized by Professor Francesco Galofaro, professor of Semiotics in our University.
