Strategies of the word: a series of meetings on the power of words
A series of meetings curated by Cristina Dell'Acqua on the power of words. Next meeting: April 16 with Franco Arminio and The Words of Poetry.
"The word is a mighty lady," wrote Gorgias in the 5th century B.C., "who with a very small and invisible body performs the most divine works": so learning to use it is a useful strategy for everyone.
Our words define who we are and what our horizons are.
On a personal level to learn about ourselves, get to know each other and refine our interpersonal skills; on a professional level to turn our ideas into projects (and to know how to present them) and to grasp the nuances of different types of language.
We can also learn to refine our communication strategy by listening to experts in the field and figure out what to imitate and put into practice.
Each meeting in the series will be structured as a dialogue between the guest speaker and Cristina Dell'Acqua, writer and lecturer on Rhetoric and Communication: models and strategies from the classical world to the present, and will draw on a key word told through its etymology.
