Championing Gender Equality: Pathways To Progress
The conference was held on September 18 at the Università Cattolica in the presence of Professor Vanessa Gemmo, the Rector's delegate for Equal Opportunities
IULM participated through Professor VanessaGemmo, the Rector's delegate for Equal Opportunity, in the "Championing Gender Equality: Pathways To Progress" conference held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Università Cattolica.
The initiative was an opportunity for public discussion among the seven Milanese universities that collaborate on gender and equal opportunity issues through the Inter-University Research Center "Culture di genere," of which IULM has been a founding member since 2013.
The meeting offered insights both into aspects related to gender and role differences that affect women's career development and to share actions and processes that should be activated to close the gender gap.
In addition, it was an opportunity to dialogue about what has happened in the university world three years after the adoption of the Gender Equality Plan. "A valuable moment of confrontation with the other Milanese universities to discuss gender issues together, highlighting what has been done in the three-year period that is about to close and plan future actions. Achieving gender equality in society requires cultural change and the role of the university in this process is fundamental," says Professor Gemmo.
