Interpreting and translation - 23 March 2026 - Event date 26 March 2026

With Odyssey 2.0, students experiment with translating ancient texts by combining traditional tools and artificial intelligence under the guidance of academics

IULM University, in collaboration with theUniversity of Parma, is promoting the Odyssey 2.0 project, an initiative exploring the use ofgenerative artificial intelligence in the translation of classical Greek and Latin texts.

Starting from the analysis of Homer'sOdyssey and its Latin version, LivyAndronicus' Odusia, the project involved students and teachers in a training and experimentation process, comparing traditional tools and innovative technologies. Liceo San Carlo, Liceo Tito Livio and Liceo Parini, which integrated the project into its "Parini OrientaMenti" courses, participated in the initiative.

The course will conclude on March 26 with a certamen, during which students will translate a fragment of theOdusia using both vocabulary and artificial intelligence tools. The best translations will be rewarded with book vouchers. President of the committee will be Professor Mario Negri.
