Italian Cuisine Week in the World – Seminar by Professor Vincenzo Russo in Oman
On the occasion of the ninth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, celebrated in Oman, the Embassy of Italy in Muscat organized an interactive seminar at the "Sultan Qaboos" University, in collaboration with the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) and IULM University of Milan
On November 12, an insightful seminar took place at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman, led by Professor Vincenzo Russo, Director of the Brain and Behavior Laboratory at IULM University, as part of the 9th Edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the World. The seminar, titled "The Taste of the Mind: Where Science and Cooking Meet," examined the health benefits and deep cultural roots of the Mediterranean Diet.
With the collaboration of Dr. Fiamma Rivetti and Dr. Greta Rondi, Professor Russo guided participants through the fascinating connection between science and culinary flavors, showing how Mediterranean cuisine can engage both mind and body.
The event attracted the attention of students, academics, representatives of Italian and Omani institutions, and members of civil society. It was a significant moment to highlight the connection between Italian culinary traditions and a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, in line with the theme chosen for the 2024 edition, "Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition."
Ambassador Pierluigi D'Elia recalled that this annual celebration is a tribute to Italy's gastronomic richness and a recognition of the universal value of the Mediterranean Diet as a symbol of Italian culture and lifestyle.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Italian Embassy in Muscat, Ambassador Pierluigi d'Elia, and Sultan Qaboos University for their warm hospitality and invaluable support in making this event a success.
