Associate Professor of English literature.


His research interests are focussed on Romantic literature, translation, and contemporary poetry. On Romantic poetry and culture, he has published many articles in Italian, European and American periodicals, and two books, Coleridge in Italy (Cork University Press 1996), and Petrarch in Romantic England (Palgrave Macmillan 2008). With Elinor S. Shaffer, he has edited The Reception of S. T. Coleridge in Europe (Continuum 2007). He is a member of the Editorial Board of Comparative Critical Studies and has contributed for many years to the journal of poetry and translation Testo a fronte. He has edited bilingual editions of works by Romantic and contemporary English-language poets such as Percy Bysshe Shelley, Charles Tomlinson, Michael Hartnett, Anne Sexton, Sotto la pioggia e il gin: antologia della poesia inglese contemporanea, and the recent S.T. Coleridge, Tutto il mondo di ombre (Elliot 2018). He has published an anthology of his translations into Italian and dialect, Il dragomanno errante (ATì 2016), four collections of poems in a Lombard dialect and a collection in Italian, Gli incubi di Menippo (Elliot 2016).
