Dr. Kelly Page Werder is an Associate Professor in the Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, USA. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in strategic communication management at USF since 2001. Her research has been published in the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, International Journal of Strategic Communication and the Handbook of Strategic Communication, and she has presented work at academic and professional conferences around the world.
Werder has served as Editor of the International Journal of Strategic Communication (Routledge/Taylor & Francis) since 2012. In 2015, she was named a Page Legacy Scholar by the Arthur Page Society for Integrity in Public Communication at Penn State for her experimental research on corporate social responsibility. In 2016/17, Werder was an International Visiting Scholar at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, where she taught courses in strategic communication campaigns and scientific public relations. She has presented lectures and seminars in strategic communication management at universities throughout Europe, including Aarhus University in Denmark, Lund University in Sweden, the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway, and the International University of Languages and Media (IULM) in Milan, Italy. She will teach a course on strategic communication research methods at IULM in Autumn 2018.
Werder completed a Ph.D. in Mass Communication at the University of Florida, a M.S. in Corporate and Professional Communication at Radford University, and a B.A. in Communication Studies at Virginia Tech. She is an advocate of service-learning instructional methods, and students in her courses have developed strategic communication campaigns for more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay community.
