CURRENT POSITION:
I’m Full Professor in the History of Medieval Art.
Since 1 November 2023, I’m Director of “Giampaolo Fabris” Department of Communication, Arts and Media. I also coordinate the Degree Course in Arts and cultural events and I’m member of the AQ Management Group (Quality Assurance) for the same Degree Course. I’m member of the Board of the Faculty of Arts and Tourism and of the Department of Communication, Arts and Media.
Since 2023: I’m member of the steering committee of the “Centro studi longobardi”.
Since 2023: with prof. Paolo Giovannetti, I take care of the virtual museum "Milan and memory: destructions, reconstructions, recoveries" which can be visited on the IULM University website <https://www.iulm.it/speciali/milano-e-la-memoria/percorso-espositivo/

Since 2017 I’m adjunct Professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
From 2017 to 2019: I was member of the scientific committee of the classe A journal "Testo a fronte".
Since 2016: I’m member of the PhD committee in "Visual and Media Studies" (IULM University).
Since 2014: I’m member of the scientific committee of the research "Corpus of Byzantine monumental painting in Italy", with the role of secretary.
From 2013 to 2016: I was member of the PhD committee in “Letterature e Media: narratività e linguaggi” (IULM University).
From 2011 to 2012: I was member of the scientific committee of the exposition “Tavole Miracolose. Le icone medioevali di Roma e del Lazio del Fondo Edifici di Culto” (Rome, Palazzo di Venezia, 13 November - 15 December 2012), organized under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, with the collaboration of the Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage and for the Museum Centre of the City of Rome.
From 2009 to 2012: I was member of the PhD committee in “Letterature Comparate” (IULM University).
Since 2002: I’m member of the editorial office of the classe A journal "Arte medievale".
RESEARCH LINES:
The following lists only the Research projects active and financed:
- 2023: Coordinator of the “IULM per Milano” research project (responsible for the section: “Milan and memory: destructions, reconstructions, recoveries”, already a Special University Project). Funded by the Department of Communication, Arts and Media and by the Department of Business, Law, Economics and Consumer Behaviour - IULM University.
- 2020-2024: Head of Research Unit (IULM University), PRIN 2017 “Navigating through Byzantine Italy. An Online Catalog to Study and Enhance a Submerged Artistic Heritage”, Principal Investigator: prof. Antonio Iacobini (Sapienza University of Rome). Funded by the Ministry of Education, University and Research.
- 1997-until now: Member of the group "Corpus of Byzantine monumental painting" (Coordinator for Italy: prof. Mara Bonfioli and then prof. Antonio Iacobini, Sapienza University of Rome). Funded by the Union Académique Internationale and supported by the Unione Accademica Nazionale.
