CURRENT POSITION:
Mara Logaldo has been lecturing at IULM University since 1993 and is currently Associate Professor in English Linguistics and Translation (disciplinary area: L/LIN-12). She is a member of the Doctoral Board in Visual and Media Studies and of the Teacher-Student Joint Commission, Faculty of Interpreting and Translation. Affiliation: Department of Humanities.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Mara Logaldo obtained a PhD in English Studies from the University of Genoa with a thesis on the structural function of metaphor. Since then, her scientific interest has been centred on linguistic and discursive practices in media texts, according to a critical-analytical and multimodal approach. Her research has focused on New Journalism, on the genre of the review, on text-image relation in photojournalism and, more recently, on the subtitling of audiovisual texts. Following this didactic and scientific interest, she has extensively published on Audiovisual Translation (TAV), investigating the pragmatics of film dialogue and the technical, linguistic, and cultural challenges posed by subtitles (Teoria e tecnica della traduzione audiovisiva, Dino Audino Editore, Roma, 2021; Captioning and Revoicing Screened Dialogue, Universitas Studiorum, Mantova, 2020). She has presented at numerous international conferences and contributed to various national and international research projects. Among these, “Metaphor in Contemporary Communication: Linguistic, Semiotic, and Translational Perspectives”, coordinated by Prof. Giuliana Garzone, and “Collaborative Translation: Approaches and Perspectives”, coordinated by Dr. Francesco Laurenti.
Mara Logaldo is Chair of the European Society of Periodical Research (ESPRit). She is also a member of the Advisory Board of The Interiors. An Annual Journal of English Studies (India) and of the editorial boards of Poli-femo and InterArtes.
