SECOND TERM 2018/19: Thursday 3.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.; Friday 9.00 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.Graduated in contemporary art history at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome in 1994, he obtained his specialization in art criticism history at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, in 1999.
From 2003 to 2006, he collaborated with the chair of Museology and Art Criticism at the University of Salento (Lecce).
Since 2006, he has been a lecturer in the history of historical-artistic documentary and photography at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (National Film School) in Rome, Milan and Palermo.
From 2000 to 2010, he worked continuously at the Institute of the Encyclopedia Treccani (websites of Art and Cinema, Biographical Dictionary of Italians, magazine "Iter", Encyclopedia of the XXI century).
Between 2009-2010, he participated in the re-design of the collection of portraits of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome.
Since 2010, he has been associate professor of "Museology, history of art criticism and restoration" (L/ART.04) and, since 2011, he teaches in the three-year degree course in Communication and management of art and culture markets, Faculty of Arts, Heritage and markets at IULM University . He is a registered member of the national associations: SISCA and CUNSTA and International CIHA.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of SISCA (Società italiana di storia della critica d'arte) and of the Scientific Committee of the magazine "Annali di critica d'arte (Nuova serie)" associated with it.
He is vice-president of the Italian Committee of the CIHA (Comité International d'Histoire de l'art): http://www.ciha-italia.it/comitato/ .
The main areas of scientific interest are:
1. Iconography, collecting and theories on portraiture in the 16th-19th centuries.
2. The relationship between texts and images (in the 16th - 17th centuries) with particular reference to the ecphrase, the treatise on portraiture and physiognomy.
3. The image of translation and documentation of the work of art (printed, photographic, cinematographic and multimedia in the XVI-XXI centuries).
4. Museology, history of collecting and commissioning.
