CURRENT POSITION
Valeria Pecorelli, PhD is a temporary researcher (RTDa) of Geography at the Faculty of Arts Tourism where she lectures "Geography of tourism policies and innovation" in the Master Degree course in Hospitality and Tourism Management and "City tourism" in the Bachelor Degree course in Tourism, management and culture. Since September 2022, she is the coordinator of the A.Ge.I. National Geography Research Group "Geography of Gender"
RESEARCH LINE
Her research areas focus on theoretical and methodological aspects of cultural geography and critical geography of tourism. In particular: practices and discourses of sustainability and local development, heritage and participatory tourism, urban tourism and social conflicts, island and mountain tourism. The results of these research areas have been presented at various national and international conferences and published in journals and books.
She participates in the following departmental projects: Urban spaces and hyper tourism: political practices and conflicts. The mountain "fragile territory" between luxury imagery and overtourism. Analysis and proposals for sustainable practices towards Milan-Cortina 2026.
