Timetable

Individual tutorials will be held via Skype on Tuesday from 16.30 to 18 by appointment to be arranged in advance by e-mail.

Claudio Arbore, geographer, is project manager in international cooperation and deals with processes of local development and spatial planning in protected areas in Africa, particularly from the point of view of tourism.

From 2003 to 2007, he carried out research activities under the scientific direction of Angelo Turco in the framework of the ECOPAS and AGIR Programmes of the European Union in West Africa, working in particular in Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin.

From 2008 to 2015, he coordinated the development projects "EcoGuiné" and "EcoCantanhez" (ANE Programme of the European Union) in the Cantanhez National Park (Guinea Bissau).

In 2015, he coordinated the team of technicians and researchers involved in the implementation of the monitoring system of protected areas in Guinea Bissau (SNAP GB) in the framework of the homonymous project of the Instituto da Biodiversidade e das Áreas Protegidas da Guiné Bissau (IBAP).

From 2012 to 2016, he was a member of the management committee of the Cacheu Caminho de Escravos (ANE EU Culture Programme) and Nubanale (EU Food Security) projects in Guinea Bissau.

He is currently project manager of the project "Cacheu de si cultura i istoria" (ANE culture programme of the European Union) for the implementation of the "Memorial da Escravatura e Tráfico Negreiro de Cacheu", for which he is currently scientific director.

In parallel, he participated in the research projects promoted and led by Angelo Turco and Marco Maggioli in the field of territorial planning in Africa and Europe, collaborating in many educational and editorial initiatives.

Areas of scientific interest

The main areas of scientific interest concern the process of territorialisation and the configurations of territorialisation in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. In the perspective of local development, he studies in particular the processes of environmental governance, the enhancement of tourist resources in protected areas, participatory spatial planning, international cooperation, etc
