Individual tutorials will be held by appointment to be arranged in advance by e-mail.
In 1968, he joined the research group of the Center of Cybernetics of the State University of Milan, directed by Prof. Silvio Ceccato, and deals with operational methodology and linguistics.
After completing his law studies ('74 - thesis in Jusibernetics, "The automation of process systems"), he collaborated with the Institute of Sociology of the Faculty of Political Science of Milan on problems of research methodology.
In 1975, he was a consultant to the Agnelli Foundation for the project "Automation of the social and health system".
From '75 to '79, he was involved in social research and research on communication.
In 1979, he founded the Makno Research Institute and headed the institute's social projects, with a particular focus on opinion research and political behaviour.
In 1979, he established the first "socio-political observatory and system of political forecasts for Italy" (Il Mondo and various political parties).
Since 1980, he has been running the first system of surveys and demoscopic surveys for TV (Mixer/RAI).
Since 1981, he has directed an Observatory of systematic research on the evolution of the post-industrial economy and society in Italy.
Since 1983, he has been dealing with systematic analysis and research of marketing mixes for large industrial groups (Montedison, Ibm, Eni, Ericsson, etc. ...).
Since 1986, he has been developing a line of research and studies in the field of the economy of culture and information.
At the end of the 1980s, he created a research division -Makno Media- specializing in the media that operates for large groups of communication (Rai, Mediaset, Telecom, Rizzoli, etc. ..)
Since 1995, he has been directing a line of research on living, first at home and then at Housing Evolution technology.
At the end of the 1990s, he founded a line of research and consultancy on territorial marketing.
In 2000, he joined the international multifirm group Deloitte as a partner.
In 2000/2001, he launched a new line of research on multimedia and digital terrestrial for large industrial groups (Rai, Mediaset, Telecom...).
Since 2003, he has created an international observatory on living and design as part of Housing Evolution.
Since 2006, he has been managing the Social Report on Health (BSS) project, a health observatory for the regions.
Since 2011, he has been managing the ConMe Laboratory on Convergence with the MIP (Politecnico di Milano - Prof. Noci).
From 2013 to 2015, he collaborated with the architect Renzo Piano, as scientific consultant to the G124 Group of the Senate of the Republic, on the project for the redevelopment of new suburbs.
From 2015 to 2017, he was a consultant to the Presidency of the Council and the Ministry of Infrastructure for the smart city and city plan project.
2016-2018 icoordinator of the scientific plan of the project of the metropolitan city of Reggio-Calabria Messina.
2018 coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the National Council of Architects.
- is professor at the IULM University of Milan - Communication Sciences for the course "Statistics and market research"; Arts, heritage and markets for the course "Strategies of cultural events" and the inter-faculty course "Creative industry" for the city
- is the coordinator of the activities of the Institute of Media Economics - IEM (Rosselli Foundation);
- is a member of the Cotec Scientific Committee - Foundation for Technological Innovation (institutional mandate, Honorary Chairmanship of the Head of State).
- was a member of the board of directors of the Fondazione Triennale di Milano and president of the Triennale Milano Servizi;
- was a member of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation I-CSR - Foundation for the dissemination of corporate social responsibility in which the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, INAIL, Unioncamere and Università Bocconi participate);
- was a member of the board of directors of SOSE - Società per gli Studi di Settore/Ministero delle Finanze;
- has been commissioner of the scientific committee for television quality (Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Productive Activities/RAI), has designed the quality index;
- was responsible for the international strategic direction of the IED (European Institute of Design) group;
- is a past fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Council of Italy/USA.
