In October 2019, artist Marco Nereo Rotelli staged an evocative and exciting performance of light and music on the IULM University campus. The event marked the opening of the exhibition "The Forms of Value: Art and Money," a project realized thanks to the collaboration between IULM and the Milan Triennale.

During the exhibition, the IULM University Campus was transformed into an exciting pathway, offering the public the chance to admire some of Rotelli's most famous works, including the fascinating Golden Doors (2006-2017). One of these precious doors was placed on display in the corridor of IULM 6, leaving a tangible record of the event and the artist's art.

The Golden Doors are a central work in Marco Nereo Rotelli's artistic research. Recovered from abandoned places, they become true "place-concepts," metaphorical symbols that encapsulate poetry. Alphabets from different parts of the world and verses by contemporary poets are painted on each door, thus creating a marriage of different cultures and artistic languages.

Treated with delicacy and skill, the Golden Doors are covered with gold leaf, turning into true icons of beauty and value. Gilding represents the golden persistence of what cannot be lost, a symbol of eternity and preciousness. The Golden Doors stand as a testimony to a universal dialogue between art, poetry and culture, offering the public a unique emotional and intellectual experience.
