On Nov. 17, 2022, IULM University unveiled the work "Tong Contacts" (1970) by sculptor Gio' Pomodoro.

The sculpture, made on a 'human' scale (203 x 165 x 206 cm) is part of the series of 'Contacts,' characteristic of the 1960s and early 1970s, which the artist wished to see made in monumental dimensions, so that they could 'make the void feel like a living presence.' And because, as Pomodoro himself recalls, 'the obsession of every true sculptor is emptiness, the attempt to express or capture or define it.'

'The work is virtually a kind of portal,' emphasized Bruto Pomodoro, son of Maestro Gio', 'an entrance that opens dividing from the outside to the inside of the sculpture, almost a kind of call to and within the culture. In fact, the structure is made up of two elements that face each other and establish points of contact, thus making what cannot be seen as a decisive element.
