#LabOpera al Franco Parenti

The IULM theatre direction workshop, directed by Proff. Valentina Garavaglia, Annina Pedrini and Fabio Cherstich, this year proposed #LabOpera, a staging resulting from an innovative training proposal for the performing arts disciplines.

#LabOpera is a theatrical production whose dramaturgy was inspired by the word of the year of IULM, money, and from here has been practiced on the preparation of the three-money opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill.

The direction was coordinated by Fabio Cherstich, a young internationally renowned director, who teaches at the IULM theatre direction workshop together with Valentina Garavaglia and Annina Pedrini.

The project has seen the collaboration of several Milanese institutions of excellence alongside IULM: the actors of the Academy of Education of the Centro Teatro Attivo in Milan, the musicians of the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado and the workers of the Teatro Franco Parenti, with the aim of formulating a mode of integrated teaching in relation to the theater direction.

The staging of #LabOpera was the natural conclusion of a training course that combined knowledge and know-how, which saw the principle within the University, where students learned the principles of theatrical direction, and the conclusion in a direct confrontation with the stage and its dynamics of production of which the students are an essential part.

An exchange of ideas and opinions, a continuous flow of creation and revision, from the initial and primary analysis of the dramaturgical text to the actual mise en espace, which has seen the light on the tables of one of the most prestigious stages in Milan: the Sala Grande of the Franco Parenti Theatre.
